CHECK LIST TO FIND A GOOD RESORT. 1) LOCATION 2) COMFORT 3) SERVICE 4) FOOD. 5) ACTIVITY The villa retreat checks all the boxes. Kodai is home to some great resorts and big names in the hospitality industry. Inspite of that Villa retreat is ranked number one by many travel portals and authenticated by many individual reviews. A small resort with 18 rooms and a lovely garden at the rear. Ideally situated well within the town and walkable distance to many prominent places and shopping streets. its a island of tranquility. The resort gave us a welcome feel from the time we booked our stay. The front office staff were all smile and ready to help, the restaurant staff serve with a smile. Mr. Shyam the engine behind this resort has bound less energy taking care of his guests beautifully. Talking to each and every guest, which makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The signature suites face the garden and the valley giving a beautiful view. the classic rooms in the first floor in the heritage block has some great valley view. they are spacious and comfortable. Ask for Room no 107 and 108 as these are the two room with unmatched valley views. Its a shear magical experience to wake up to the song of many different birds of all shapes and sizes and with different vocal abilities. The resort sports a small kitchen and a dining room that caters only for the in-house guests and has a master chef with a god given hand for cooking. The food was top notch and there was no room for complaints. The dinner in front of the fire place with the fire going and the cold kodai breeze coming in is something to be enjoyed. The breakfast menu is small but excellent. make it a point to have the breakfast in the garden with the cold breeze and the early morning sun giving you company. To be frank the prices too are moderate and doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. after three days of stay i would say that we had to go else where for food only to find a variety and not because the restaurant failed us. I wrote about all the pros, As always there are some cons too. For some strange reason the rooms are not equipped with room heaters and you need to pay for one if you need it. for coffee lovers ask for the decoction separately as the chef has missed out on the coffee recipe. The resort does not serve alcoholic beverages (its true for most of the resorts in kodai. Make sure you carry your own). The resort is very skeptical about the guests having a drink in the garden or in the restaurant and allow you to do so only if there are no other guests around. its kind of nit picking to talk about the cons. which is not so much of a bother. Overall the resort has got the top ranking for being what it is, calm, serene, comfortable, top notch service. its a tag well worn.
